Cambridge Police Department officers pursued a potentially armed male suspect on foot through Harvard Yard shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Friday, according to an officer on the scene.

CPD spokesperson Robert Goulston said that no weapon was seen by officers, but the search for the suspect was still active as of 12:55 a.m.

While police officers have not located the suspect as early Saturday morning, Harvard University Police Department spokesperson Steven G. Catalano said that there is no active threat and the suspect is no longer believed to be on Harvard’s campus.

Catalano declined to provide more details about the incident, referring a reporter to the Cambridge Police Department for further comment.

Goulston said that officers responded to a report of a male and female altercation at 1200 Mass. Ave. and that HUPD and MIT had been notified of the incident.

At least seven CPD cars were parked outside Harvard Yard on Massachusetts Avenue just before midnight on Friday. By 12:03 a.m., all but one of the cars had driven away.
