Coming off back-to-back wins, Harvard women’s basketball (14-9, 7-3 Ivy) looked to continue its winning ways, playing host to a pair of New York rivals in Cornell (7-15, 1-9) and Columbia (18-5, 9-1). However, this weekend’s homestand ended with the same result as two weeks earlier, a 74-51 thrashing of the Big Red followed by an excruciating 71-63 defeat to the Lions.

This weekend presented the Crimson with a key opportunity to solidify its spot in the Ivy League Tournament coming this March. Harvard fought valiantly in a tough matchup against Columbia before ultimately succumbing in a 82-70 defeat, snapping Harvard’s three-game win streak. The Crimson recovered from the setback, besting the Big Red 63-52 to earn third place outright in the Ivy League.

Coming off its first conference win, Harvard (10-6, 1-2) looked to continue its hot streak against historic rival Yale (12-6, 3-0) to begin its four game homestand. After an even first half, Yale’s shooters shut the door on Harvard's hopes of victory with a 78-65 win.


Men’s Basketball Notches First Conference Win, Besting Penn 70-61

Following consecutive defeats in conference play, the Crimson (9-6, 0-2 Ivy) traveled to the “Cathedral of College Basketball” — the Palestra, home of all things college basketball in Philadelphia — in a highly anticipated conference matchup against the Penn Quakers (9-8, 1-1).


A Lavietes Legend Retires: Kathy Delaney-Smith, Coach of the Year

In 40 seasons as Harvard's women's basketball coach, Kathy Delaney-Smith racked up 630 victories, 11 Ivy League championships, and six NCAA Tournament appearances. Her team culture was built through camaraderie and trust, leading her to become the all-time winningest basketball coach, male or female, in conference history.


Women's Basketball Season Ends in Heartbreak as it Falls to Princeton in Ivy Madness, 72-67

For the third time this season, Harvard (13-14, 7-7) fell to No. 24 Princeton (25-5, 14-0). Unlike the two previous contests, this Ivy Madness matchup was a barn burner, with both offenses excelling in the clutch. The Crimson rallied late but ran out of gas, losing by a score of 72-67 in its final game of head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith's remarkable career.
