Launched in 1998, the Financial Aid Program enables all Harvard students, regardless of economic circumstance, to take part in The Crimson. It has played a key role in increasing socioeconomic and ethnic diversity in the organization by lowering financial barriers for low-income students, many of whom would otherwise have to work outside jobs.
But as the number of students receiving financial aid from Harvard increases, the program faces serious challenges. The number of participants has increased significantly since the financial crisis as Harvard’s need-based scholarships have expanded, and costs continue to rise.
Our commitment to the program is unwavering, but we need your help.
Many presidents, managing editors, and business managers have received aid from The Crimson in recent years, and countless aspiring journalists have had the opportunity to develop their skills because of the Financial Aid Program.
